From the 25th October 2019, the printed Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) will be substituted by the electronic Tax Compliance Status (TCS). This new digital version of the TCC allows for a more secure experience.
Back in 2015, when the TCS system was introduced, taxpayers were informed that the printed TCC would be temporary and that later down the line, the TCCs would no longer be issued. Well, that time has come. All taxpayers will now have to use their TCS PIN electronically, in order to share their tax compliance status.
Not only will the new TCS system be more secure with the provision of the new PIN system, it will also help third-parties view your tax compliance status online - making tax clearance more convenient than it's ever been before!
Once you provide them (any third-party) with your TCS PIN, they will be able to access real-time information. For instance, instead of viewing your tax compliance information as it was on the date that the TCS PIN was sent to you, the third-party will be able to access your overall status as it is at the date and time that they access it. This new feature helps give third-parties a more accurate view of your status, as your tax compliance status changes according to your compliance with tax obligations.
Note: All active TCCs will be cancelled. This means that you will NOT be able to verify or print the TCC as you did in the past. In order to prepare for the complete termination of the TCC system, you are advised to become familiar with the new TCS PIN and system.
