When can I expect my tax refund to be paid out?

I submitted my tax returns 2 weeks ago, I was told that I will receive my pay out within 2 days, and its been 2 weeks now, I still have not received anything. Must i go back to sars and report this concern?

Please go to your eFiling and check that you have not received a request to submit supporting documentation. The other delay could be that you have not submitted your previous years tax returns and SARS does not pay out refund's until all returns have been submitted. The other problem could be if the refund was for R100 or less. SARS does not pay out amounts less than R100.

If none of these are the cause then definitely phone SARS and find out what the delay is, there really shouldn't be one if you are due a refund and are fully compliant.

Hi Thabiso,

Wait for 21 working days, if after that you still have not received your refund then contact SARS again to see where the hold up is. Which letter are you referring to?

Regards,
Tim
