I haven't worked for the full year, how does that affect me and my tax return?

If you're a salaried employee, and therefore received an IRP5 from your employer, this would indicate to SARS that you worked for part of the year. Your tax will then be adjusted accordingly when you are assessed. In fact, there may be a chance that you overpaid tax if you only worked for part of the year so it is important that you submit your tax return.
