TaxTim says: 5 July 2016 at 9:00 Have you submitted an ITR-DD to SARS for this period? And do you have all the relevant documents to support your medical expenditure (i.e. proof of payments and invoices)? |
Gandhi says: 5 July 2016 at 9:35 I do have the ITR-DD form, which was completed by the doctor but it was done after I found out that I can claim for disability i.e. during the period concern I did not do the ITR-DD form, but this condition the person was born with it... |
TaxTim says: 5 July 2016 at 10:48 Unfortunately, you do need the ITR-DD for the relevant period in order to qualify for the special disability rates. You should be able to still claim these medical expenses however, in your previous tax returns however you won't be able to qualify for the disability rates. If you did not claim them previously, and have all the supporting documents, you can navigate to the relevant year in your SARS eFiling history and then "Request for Correction" and then update medical expenses. |
