Zet says: 9 August 2015 at 9:32 My previous employer never put a travel/car allowance on my IRP5 thought I travelled more than 40000km for them in 11 months. Can this be corrected? Unfortunately the consultant who did my returns for me already submitted without informing me before submitting about this issue. What can I do? |
TaxTim says: 9 August 2015 at 13:05 Did they pay you this allowance despite not putting it on the IRP5? |
Zet says: 9 August 2015 at 13:52 Yes they did. According to the consultant who did my returns for me I lost out on a substantial amount due to me because of this. |

TaxTim says: 11 August 2015 at 22:17 The employer will have to resubmit the IRP5 and correct it and then you can resubmit your tax return. Did you keep a logbook? |
Zet says: 12 August 2015 at 9:07 Yes I kept my log book up to date 100%. But now according to them I just got a high basic.. but they made me aware of the travel allowance a lot. Especially when I had to use the company bakkie for a couple of weeks when my private vehicle was at the panelbeater. They never stated this on my payslip though. What can I do? |
TaxTim says: 12 August 2015 at 15:33 Will they not restate and resubmit the IRP5 to SARS? |
Zet says: 12 August 2015 at 16:13 They have now let me know that they have corrected the IRP5 and emailed it to me. Can I resubmit? |
TaxTim says: 14 August 2015 at 17:39 Yes you can, but check on eFiling if the corrected IRP5 is there as it can take some time to be updated on eFiling. |
