Koi says: 4 June 2015 at 9:50 I currently work a 6 hour day for a company. Tax and UIF deducted and I do receive an IRP5. I want to do extra work. That is work for a different company a few hours a day. Will work approximately 10 to 15 hours a week. They do not want to register me on their payroll. Do I invoice them for service and declare my extra income on my tax return? Will I then become a provisional tax payer? |
TaxTim says: 5 June 2015 at 8:31 They should be taking the PAYE off, however if they don't then yes you will need to invoice them and register as a provisional taxpayer. Register for TaxTim and let us help you with completing your tax return and submitting to SARS. |
Koi says: 5 June 2015 at 9:47 Thank you. So if I don't want to be come a provisional tax payer, the only way would be for them to be deducting PAYE. But the secondary income is too little to pay PAYE on its own. Is there any other way to declare without having to be come a provisional tax payer? This is temporary secondary income and the secondary income varies depending on the of the need of company. |
TaxTim says: 5 June 2015 at 9:48 How long do you expect to earn this income for? |
Koi says: 5 June 2015 at 9:57 As long as they need me. Currently it has been since February this year. I was looking for "extra income" to supplement my income. Only work 3 hours a day for 3 - 5 days a week as needed. They have asked me to invoice them as they do not want to employ me. So this will mean that I have register as provisional tax payer for as long as I help them out as a temp? Cant I just declare the extra income on my annual tax return? Or will SARS then automatically change me to provisional tax payer? |
TaxTim says: 8 June 2015 at 5:32 SARS will pick up that you qualify as a provisional taxpayer and impose interest on these amounts so it is best to register as a Provisional Taxpayer |
