CHENE says: 25 August 2015 at 12:16 I submitted my tax claim for 2015 on SARS and made a mistake the first time (not adding medical aid tax amount) and requested a correction ( added the tax amount ) but then I was under audit so today 30 days later I receive a phone call from SARS asking me to submit my tax clearance breakdown certificate, the only problem I have now is that I didn't even know you should claim the slips because they are added in to the tax clearance breakdown certificate. Now what will happen? the lady said I can submit the documentation online but I don't see a link to add it and when calling customer care they said I should submit it by SARS. |
TaxTim says: 25 August 2015 at 14:49 Do you mean you need to submit the Tax Certificate from the Medical Aid? This can usually be done online. You can ask SARS to make a link available so this can be submitted. In the Medical Aid section of the Tax Return, you need to insert amount of "out of pocket" medical expenditure which was not reimbursed by the Medical Aid. This amount is usually reflected on the Certificate from the Medical Aid. You also need to insert total amount of contributions to the Medical Aid. I hope the above helps. |
CHENE says: 25 August 2015 at 15:38 I claimed R12215.10 total of Medical aid expenses R7570.80 From medical aid tax certificate R4644.30 From invoice received from Docters TOTAL R12215.10 I should have claimed R4644.30 because some of those invoice are added to the tax certificate that make up the 7570.80 amount. R4644.30-R495.20 = R2969.10 should be the correct amount. R7570.80+R2969.10=R10539.90 They will def pick this up in the audit, do they just correct the claim on there side and pay out what they think or should I resubmit a new corrected return again and wait another 30 days. Do I just phone SARS and just ask them to add the link because the call centr lady told me to come in and submit the breakdown at the branch witch I really don't want to do because I have been there twice already. thanks a mil for all the help :) |
TaxTim says: 25 August 2015 at 16:00 It would be best to "Request for Correction" and correct your mistake. You should be able to submit the Medical Aid certificate online rather than go to the Branch - call SARS and ask them to add the link so you can submit your supporting documents. |
