Masoli says: 10 July 2015 at 8:52 I would like to know what process does SARS follow after someone has submitted their tax returns information and what are the penalties for non-submission of a tax return or submission of false information? |
TaxTim says: 10 July 2015 at 8:54 False information can cause you to be penalised 200% of the tax difference from the incorrect amounts plus other penalties, as well as SARS could consider you trying to evade tax. Once you have submitted your return, SARS will assess your return and return a summary and in some instances where their information is different to your information will ask for proof of the information you provided. |
Masoli says: 10 July 2015 at 9:00 What are the ways that SARS has of checking information in tax returns? |
TaxTim says: 10 July 2015 at 9:09 They can make contact with your employer, banks, institutions and have wide powers to check that what is being recorded is correct. You need to be 100% honest with them in your declaration. |
