Marli says: 14 July 2015 at 8:15 Hi there. Please can you help? I don't normally claim travel allowance or petrol, so this was a once-off thing. This is now indicated on my IRP5, but I don't have a log book. And I have to submit it to SARS as I have been selected for an audit. Do I have to claim it or can I request a correction and remove it from my tax return? Please help. Thanks |
TaxTim says: 14 July 2015 at 16:28 Unless you have a logbook SARS will not allow a claim for travel. You can request a correction and change the return where necessary. |
Marli says: 14 July 2015 at 16:37 Hi there, Thank you. So just to confirm. (Don't understand 100%) I'm going to requests a correction, and remove the travel bit. Even though it is on the IRP5. On source 3703 and 3696. Thanks |
TaxTim says: 14 July 2015 at 16:40 Don't change the IRP5, but if you said yes to the logbook section and completed it then you need to change this. |
Marli says: 14 July 2015 at 16:54 Ok thank you. Will try to find the logbook section. Won't change the IRP5. So basically I just select no on the logbook and the problem should be solved? Thanks for your help. |
TaxTim says: 15 July 2015 at 7:04 Yes, then you would resubmit and everything should be ok. SARS will issue a new assessment which will not include that logbook related amount. |
Marli says: 15 July 2015 at 7:21 Hi I have noticed that the logbook was not the problem. But by mistake I selected the income protection block. After correcting that we received a new assessment that now shows a balance of R0.00 And I have to give relevant documents. So it is a struggle once again... |
TaxTim says: 15 July 2015 at 14:59 Just upload all the documents you have and SARS will adjust it accordingly. Let us know if you need any other help. |
