Problem with logbook

Hi there. Please can you help? I don't normally claim travel allowance or petrol, so this was a once-off thing. This is now indicated on my IRP5, but I don't have a log book. And I have to submit it to SARS as I have been selected for an audit. Do I have to claim it or can I request a correction and remove it from my tax return? Please help. Thanks

Unless you have a logbook SARS will not allow a claim for travel. You can request a correction and change the return where necessary.

Hi there,

Thank you. So just to confirm. (Don't understand 100%)

I'm going to requests a correction, and remove the travel bit.

Even though it is on the IRP5. On source 3703 and 3696.

Thanks

Don't change the IRP5, but if you said yes to the logbook section and completed it then you need to change this.

Ok thank you.

Will try to find the logbook section.

Won't change the IRP5.

So basically I just select no on the logbook and the problem should be solved?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, then you would resubmit and everything should be ok. SARS will issue a new assessment which will not include that logbook related amount.

Hi

I have noticed that the logbook was not the problem.

But by mistake I selected the income protection block.
After correcting that we received a new assessment that now shows a balance of R0.00

And I have to give relevant documents.

So it is a struggle once again...

Just upload all the documents you have and SARS will adjust it accordingly. Let us know if you need any other help.
