Penalty Assessment Notice

I received a penalty assessment notice from SARS after not filing my returns for the last year. While working for a salary, I have been earning cash deposits of less than R10,000 on small freelance jobs, what is the best thing to do at this point?

You can appeal the penalty, but you must explain to SARS why you did not submit the return. Did you not include the extra income?

I went on to e-filing, turned out to be a penalty of R250 only for missing a year, no audits or anything! :-)

Glad it is sorted!
