Bolla says: 26 April 2016 at 9:23 I am currently working at an NPO and earning R 6000 per month. Currently the organisation is taxing me R300 per month (although this often fluctuates randomly). There are no further deductions, apart from UIF. As far as I am concerned, and according to all research I have done, I am not meant to even be paying tax on this amount. Could you please clarify if this is correct, and if not, who can I approach with regards to this money that seems to be going missing? Thank you in advance. |
TaxTim says: 26 April 2016 at 10:34 The current tax threshold for 2016-2017 (i.e. 1 March 2016 - 28 Feb 2017) is R75,000 and therefore an annual income below this amount should not be taxed. You are earning R72,000 per year (R6,000 X 12) so therefore you are correct that you should not be paying tax. Do you receive any other allowances? e.g. cell phone You need to ask the payroll administrator/accountant at your company what the deduction relates to. Show her our SARS income tax calculator to prove that there's no tax on a salary of R6,000 per month. |
