Mike says: 4 February 2016 at 19:28 I am sharing a secretary between me and a colleague. We are working in the same office. We pay her a total of R8000 p. M (R4000 each). Obviously PAYE should be deducted based on her total yearly income (R96000) and paid to SARS before the 7th of each month. Is it fine for me and my colleague to split the PAYE and UIF contributions and pay those separately to SARS, and issue her one payslip between us? If so, does she need two IRP5s issued? |
TaxTim says: 5 February 2016 at 8:14 If you split it then she will not pay tax as R4000 is below the threshold, do you both run separate businesses as sole traders? |
Mike says: 5 February 2016 at 8:17 We are both doctors and are running independent practices, but operating out of the same facility. If we split it, and pay her R4000 each, wouldn't she still need to pay tax on the total earnings for the year? I wouldn't want her to have to owe SARS anything when she files her tax return for the financial year? |
TaxTim says: 5 February 2016 at 8:29 She would be liable yes, you can deduct half of what the PAYE would be each and pay that as PAYE each month however. |
