Old Irp5 missing

Hi Tim,

I have submitted my Irp5 at a SARS office which I have received June 2015. They informed me that I am being audited and that I had to submit certain documents which I did. After submitting the consultant told me that my tax return would be paid out in 3 working days. It had been more than a week so I phoned SARS to ask what is taking so long. They then informed me that because I was audited the pay out will take 30 days and also that I have an outstanding IRP5 from 2010 that I have to submit that before I can receive my tax return.

I was employed at a company from May 2011 until November 2012 and I did receive an IRP5 but I don't have it anymore, I logged on in SARS eFiling hoping to retrieve the details but no luck. Also I did have medical aid at that time but can't remember receiving a medical certificate?

What should I do now?

If they spoke about the 2010 year then they are referring to the period 1 March 2009 - 28 February 2010 - did you work then?

I did not work that period. I started there in May 2010 until November 2011?

SARS are increasingly asking taxpayers for documents that are applicable to non-working tax periods. You have to go have a sworn affidavit stating you were not working during that period and take it to SARS for them to have this removed. Just make sure which tax years they are referring to.
