JP says: 2 November 2015 at 13:28 For the last few years my employer didn't include their portion of my medical in my deductible salary, so there was no PAYE paid on it. I did receive my annual paybacks from SARS on the medical tax certificate I submit through our accountant. Now I owe SARS money and my employer is expecting me to pay it back. Am I liable for this even though it was not a mistake on my side? |
TaxTim says: 4 November 2015 at 8:49 Unfortunately you are, as you received the refund from SARS and you should have been liable to SARS for that PAYE. The company will be fined by SARS for under declaration, but your liability still remains the same. |
