Did you have to send in any supporting documents for review? If that is the case then it may take up to 90 days to sort everything out, SARS are very slow in this I'm afraid. The other possibility is that you have outstanding returns from previous years which if haven't been filed then SARS won't pay you the refund due. Could this be the case?

No,no supporting docs were required. I have also filed religiously every year and have never had any problems..

Unfortunately then your assessment is stuck in the SARS queue and you have to be patient. I know this is frustrating, but being a government entity they work very slowly. My only other advice is to go into a SARS branch and speak with someone there, but this is long and frustrating and could take the entire day of waiting in a queue.
