Rolf says: 29 January 2016 at 10:17 After submitting my ITR12, I received an ITA34 in which 'a letter containing further instructions' is mentioned. "Please note, however, that the information provided by you in your income tax return does not match the information in the possession of SARS or your tax return has been selected for verification. Attached you will find a letter containing further instructions for you to resolve this. Please note that any refund which may be due will be withheld pending finalisation of this matter. According to the information you declared in your income tax return, you were liable to pay provisional tax for this year of assessment. Kindly note that should your tax circumstances remain the same for the next tax year, as a provisional taxpayer you are required to submit an IRP6 tax return that reflects an estimate of your taxable income for that tax year. A provisional tax payment based on the estimated taxable income must also accompany the IRP 6 tax return. " However I wasn't able to find any other documentation attached to the ITA34 on my e-filing account. The next paragraph indicates that I should've submitted an IRP6 (although my total payment was R0. 00, which I interpreted as being below the taxable threshold, and therefore not a provisional tax-payer), so could this have been the 'letter containing further instructions'? |
TaxTim says: 29 January 2016 at 11:36 So SARS are showing you are being audited, but they aren't offering up a place for documents to be uploaded - this is unusual. We will monitor for that letter in the next few days and then take it from there. |
Rolf says: 5 February 2016 at 22:07 Having checked again on my SARS eFiling account, nothing seems to have changed with respect to additional documents needed being listed. Would you simply suggest waiting until further information is received, or is this something I should be following up with SARS? |
TaxTim says: 8 February 2016 at 7:53 SARS should have sent the letter by now, we advise you phone 0800 00 7277 to find out why they have not sent the audit letter, lets us know what they say and then we can assist from there. |
