IRP5 from previous employer - do I need to submit a tax return?

Between January 2014-September 2014 I used to earn R3750 a month at my previous employer, no tax was deducted. At my new place of employment, I earn R8500 per month and tax is deducted. Do I still need to submit a tax return? My old employer told me that there was no need for me to give them my tax reference number even though I was registered with SARS. Do I still qualify for an IRP5 from my previous employer>

You did not pay tax from your old employer so there is no possibility of a refund. However you need to file a tax return for all your income earned between March 2014 and February 2015 using the two IRP5s you received. Your old employer should be giving you the IRP5 anyway.
