TaxTim says: 2 April 2014 at 14:47 The amounts are correct, please have a look at our SARS income tax calculator if you would like to check the amounts to verify. |
GP says: 2 April 2014 at 14:59 Hi Thanks for u r response. My question is why I am eligible for this much Tax as my income is only R55000 for FY 13-14. |
TaxTim says: 2 April 2014 at 16:55 The way the system works is that you will be taxed as if you worked a full year. So your salary is multiplied by 12 each month to get to the annual figure and then the tax calculated. The tax is then divided by 12 and worked out each month. You will be able to claim all this tax back from SARS when filing season opens in July as the total earned for that period is less than the tax threshold. |
GP says: 2 April 2014 at 20:07 Thank you very much to providing me this great information, It's really help to understand. If I understand correctly, I will be eligible to get tax return from SARS( using eFiling). Last question is that how my organization can deduct tax without my tax number. I think it's mandatory for every employee who are eligible to pay the tax. I appreciate your quick response and the way you people explain and resolve innocent tax payer questions. :) |
TaxTim says: 2 April 2014 at 23:27 Glad we could help! Yes you are correct, you will be able to claim the tax paid already as a refund. You can do this via TaxTim once filing season opens in July. Your employer most likely registered you as a taxpayer, you should see this on your payslip, it is a 10 digit number starting with 0,1,2 or 3. Otherwise ask your employer to give it to you. |
