In serious need of help and advice please

Hi,

My previous employer failed to submit my IRP5 in time. I was only issued (after a few months of begging) with a copy of my IRP5. This I sent to my Tax Practitioner, I have been informed that Im being audited via my Tax Practitioner, SARS didn't contact me, can this be? What does it entail? Am I in trouble for a previous employer's negligence? What to do now that the closing date is in November and I still haven't heard / received anything.... what will happen if I miss the cut of date?

If your practitioner has filed your return then the November deadline is no longer relevant. He/She has 30 working days to submit your IRP5 to SARS. There is nothing to worry about, a first stage audit is actually just a verification of what SARS has vs what you have submitted so you just provide your documents. This process can take quite awhile, but your practitioner should keep you informed.
