Keshni says: 28 April 2022 at 20:24 SARS has sent me an SMS saying they have calculated my assessment tax and I can accept or edit this. I have done an early tax return with TaxTim and I'm not sure what to do now as I cannot submit that tax return until 1 Sep 2022 |
TaxTim says: 28 April 2022 at 20:48 Please log in to your SARS eFiling profile and reject the auto-assessment. You can do this by: 1. Logging into your SARS eFiling profile and click on Returns 2. Next, click on Returns Issued on your left and then click on Personal Income Tax ITR12, 3. Select the 2022 tax return and click on Request Return 4. Once you have done this, you will receive a message saying: SARS has simulated a tax calculation for you. Please click on Continue. 5. Now click on "Edit Return" which will reject the SARS estimate. SARS won't have included your travel expenses in their auto-assessment. Please read our FAQ on auto assessments here. The filing season for 2022 is not yet open - SARS has opened SARS eFiling for auto-assessments and is testing their system currently. Submitting now may result in problems and an increased risk of audit. We are seeking clarity from SARS with regards to early submissions and will submit it for you ASAP (hopefully prior to 1 Sep). |
Keshni says: 28 April 2022 at 23:37 I have rejected the assessment. So my current dashboard on SARS eFiling now reads under Personal Income Tax ITR12 for the period 2022 - tax return status is issued and the due date is 11/11/2022. I'm hoping this is correct. I don't mind waiting to file the tax return, better than increasing the risk of an audit. I will email documents to keep on TaxTim because I noticed SARS does not include all my medical aid payments as well as information from my investment. |
