TaxTim says: 7 March 2016 at 12:08 Please make use of our SARS income tax calculator to see what your net salary should be. You should be paying very little tax on that salary. Did you receive any additional allowances or bonus during Jan / Feb? It might be best to check with your employer and ask them to see a payslip too so you can see a breakdown of your earnings. |
Wesley says: 7 March 2016 at 12:19 I've received and additional bonus for the month of December month an additional 7300 which made my salary a sum of R14000 for the month of December... now for Jan my tax was something like r1300 and Feb 1200 I don't understand as I haven't even been working any over time hours.... I have asked the company's person in charge to explain to me what's going on but her explanation dose not make that much sense to me... the 1st time I asked I got an answer that it's something About last month there never deducted or never deducted everything and the next time I ask they told me something about the bonuses pushing up the amount of tax per annum. I don't fully understand what is meant but I do feel as if there Is something wrong with this amount entirely... please can you help me with this |
TaxTim says: 7 March 2016 at 13:41 You need to add up your total salary for the year (1 March 2015 - 28 Feb 2016) and then insert this annual amount into the tax calculator to see total tax you should pay over the 12 month period. Did you pay additional tax in December? If not, it sounds like a "catch up" tax payment was calculated for Jan and Feb to make it correct over the whole 12 month period. |
Wesley says: 7 March 2016 at 14:13 Are they allowed to theseĀ things with my consent or notifying me in advance coz if not I feel as if I should be taking it further coz not only I'm I having an issue regarding this but also my gross amount seems to differ on a month to month basis aswell |
TaxTim says: 8 March 2016 at 9:33 The tax will vary from month to month if your gross salary is not the same each month. Your employer has a legal responsibility to deduct tax and pay to SARS on your behalf. You need to make sure you file a tax return for 2016 (filing season opens 1 July 2016) to ensure you claim back any taxes in the event you have over paid SARS. You should request a payslip from your employer and an explanation as to why your gross varies month to month. Please Register for TaxTim and let us assist you with your tax filings |
