Newbie says: 6 October 2015 at 14:11 I did the tax calculator and my company is subtracting 5 times the amount of tax that I should pay from my salary each month. When I asked them About it they said they have a system that works it out and didn't want to help me. What should I do now? |
TaxTim says: 6 October 2015 at 15:33 What is your monthly salary and how much tax are you paying? |
Newbie says: 6 October 2015 at 15:46 My Salary is R8500 and I am paying R2300 tax. I am a freelancer so I have no medical aid or pension or anything I just work on a contract. According to the tax calculator I should only pay R425 tax? i asked the finance department how they work out the tax and they say the have a computer system that works it out according to your salary. But thats a lot of tax isn't it? |
Newbie says: 6 October 2015 at 16:16 Sorry just got my payslip for the first time I pay R2125 tax. But still isn't that alot for a freelancer? Or is it that much because I am a freelancer? |
TaxTim says: 6 October 2015 at 16:23 What is the nature of your work? Do you have other clients? Or are you under the supervision and control of this one only? |
Newbie says: 6 October 2015 at 16:39 I am a Junior graphic designer. I am still studying my last honours year this year I finish in a month. I don;t work for any other employer. TaxTim says: 6 October 2015 at 22:28 Unfortunately students get taxed at 25% as their work is considered contract/part time work and SARS requests that this be taken off as PAYE. If you don't earn other income from other sources, and you have overpaid tax then you will be able to claim this back on submission of your tax return. Please Register for TaxTim and let us assist you to complete and submit your Tax Return. |
