Joeblack says: 14 July 2015 at 14:19 I have been submitting my tax return since 2009 with no issues. I was audited last year as well as this year and recieved the ITSA notification to say the audit has been finalised and all is good. When I phoned to ask why has my credit amount due not been paid to me yet they say I need to do my tax return for 2007 which is 8 years ago. Why was this not an issue with the audit and no notification was given that 2007 is still outstanding? |
TaxTim says: 14 July 2015 at 14:29 Did you manually file your tax return for 2007 or use eFiling back then? |
Joeblack says: 14 July 2015 at 14:41 Hi. I only registered for Tax in 2008. In 2007 it was only manual submissions as Efiling only started in 2008. |
TaxTim says: 14 July 2015 at 15:31 Do you have a record of your submission for 2008? We have escalated these type of issues to SARS as you are not the only one suffering them. Can you demonstrate to them that you did not work or earn income in 2007? |
Joeblack says: 14 July 2015 at 15:49 Hi yes I do. When I told them I did not earn an income they said I need to submit an afidavid and this will then be reviewed first. What I cannot understand and they cannot answer me is why since 2008 has there never been a issue in request for 2007 tax return but now they want it. I was even audited this year with no issues and my audit was finalised without any questions on 2007 outstanding tax return but when I query my credit payback to me they want 2007 tax return first? |
TaxTim says: 14 July 2015 at 16:22 Completely agreed, our tax director has escalated your case to SARS via our channels, but in the meantime could you get this affidavit and submit to SARS. If we need to use your details with SARS, may we have permission to do so? |
Joeblack says: 14 July 2015 at 16:29 I would rather not have my details used please. I will do what they request and see where this goes but I think it is really unreasonable and absurd to expect info from 8 years ago. I'll keep you updated. |
TaxTim says: 14 July 2015 at 16:34 We understand, your case will be just one of several in aggregate with no details provided. Please keep us updated. |
