Can you explain source codes 4040, 4020 and 4022 on the tax return.

4040 -medical scheme contributions made by yourself and not reflected on your IRP5/IT3(a) i.e if you, in your private capacity, contributed to a medical scheme during the year of assessment

4020 - these are out of pocket medical expenses i.e. not reimbursed by your medical aid

4022 - If you or a dependant have a physical impairment the amount of expenditure must be filled in next to the code 4022, providing the expenditure was not covered by a medical scheme.
