I am a south African working and living abroad. I would like to transfer some money to my retired parents. Will they pay tax on the money I transfer to them?

No, this would be viewed as a gift or donation and donations tax is not payable by recipients.
Donations tax is payable by the donor however donations from a non-SA resident to a SA resident is not taxable if the funds are from a foreign source.

Please read our blog on Donations Tax for further details.
