Documents requested for second time

Hi TaxTim,I had my tax return done by a tax practitioner who informed me that I neeeded to submit all documents again after he submitted everything for the first time. After some time I called sars to find out what the progress was and they told me it was all done and sorted, just now I had to wait an additional 30-90 days until sars would pay my tax return. Is this common? Last year I did not have to submit again and received my return after 5 days. Also, will the sum of the first assessment stay the same or can it change through the second view of my documents? Thanks for all your help. Kind regards.

This is common, unfortunately SARS are auditing much more this year than years before and are delaying payments while they conduct various checks. You will be paid in the end, however it will be later than expected. The amount can change on the second assessment, but you will be able to dispute that if you disagree.

thanks for getting back to me so prompt. one last thing. I called sars last week and they told me all my documents handed in for the 2nd time were approved, but could not give me any information regarding the new amount.
1) is there any chance I can find out about the amount? should it really take up to 90 days it would be important for me to know what the amount is that I can still expect.
2) if they finished auditing my documents on the 7th november, could the chances still be that I receive my tax return within few working days instead of 60-90 days?

I really appreciate your help.

best regards

Our tax directors inform us that they are facing the same uphill battle with SARS. Audits are performed and then no timeline is given for what happens once they are completed. Nothing will most likely happen in this, the last week of filing season, give it until Monday and then come back to us and lets see how we can assist.
