Frances says: 7 March 2022 at 15:55 I have successfully filed my provisional tax return for 2022 and would like to know if I need to wait for SARS to approve the amount or do I go ahead and pay the amount stated through the eFiling site? |
TaxTim says: 8 March 2022 at 9:05 You need to pay the amount shown on your SARS eFiling account and not wait for SARS to approve. If you pay after the provisional deadline, SARS will automatically levy a 10% penalty for late payment. If the amount for your second provisional payment is under-estimated, SARS may levy an under-estimation penalty which will reflect on your assessment when you file your tax return for 2022. You can pay the provisional tax directly via SARS eFiling, or you can make an EFT. If you choose the latter option, make sure you pay to the correct SARS account and use the correct payment reference number. These details will appear on your Provisional Statement of Account. |
