Team-mut says: 5 November 2015 at 11:18 I am a South African university student, currently working at the university library as a library assistant. I get paid not more than R3000 a month. I received a call today from the Human Resource department saying that I must pay tax. I have never paid tax before and I was not informed in my contract that I will be asked to pay tax at the end of the year. This is my 8th month working. |
TaxTim says: 5 November 2015 at 15:01 Given you are not a full time employee, there is a duty to deduct 25% each month, however given your earnings you will claim this back at the end of the tax season. You can apply to SARS for a tax directive in order that the Uni does not deduct any tax. |
