TaxTim says: 3 September 2013 at 23:48 You should not get another penalty, however it could take a few months to assess as old returns are put into a pile for assessors which is done after current returns. Best advice is to sit patiently and await the Letter of Completion from SARS. |
Mar says: 26 September 2013 at 11:55 Hi I have been keeping an eye on my e-filling. For my 2007 correction it says the following : "Please note that your assessment cannot be processed immediately as there are certain aspects of your return that require manual intervention" What does this mean? And on my 2008 it says : "Return - Data Submitted To ITS " what does that mean. Also on my 2013 it says : AVS Bank with AVS verification pass. I have not received a letter asking to confirm my bank details. I don't know what to do anymore. Please can you advise? Thanks |
TaxTim says: 26 September 2013 at 12:34 For 2007 it means that a SARS assessor needs to go through your return so this will take some extra time as it is manual and not computer generated. For 2008 it means that assessors are looking through your return and will send you a completion letter shortly. For 2013, this is standard, it means your refund will become payable shortly as they are just confirming bank details. |
Mar says: 26 September 2013 at 12:43 Thank you so much for your reply. Am I looking at weeks, months or years for the manual assessment to be done? For 2008 it has been like this for about 3 weeks now, so hopefully soon. Do you think they will pay the refund for 2013 while they are still busy with the other years? Or will the hold it back until everything is done? As this has also been like this for about 3 weeks. Thanks |
TaxTim says: 26 September 2013 at 12:50 Unfortunately they will only pay the refund once all the returns have been assessed and completed, and it could take quite a few weeks more. Once the assessors have returns there is no guaranteed time frame, but should be done fairly quickly if there are no real issues. |
