Completion letter received but still being audited.

I was selected for audit this year and asked to submit supporting documents. I sent all documents through on the 2nd of July via eFiling. In the 3rd of July I received a letter of completion stating that the verification had been completed and no changes will be made to my return. It has now been 3 weeks and the refund has still not been paid. When I called the call centre to enquire the status, they said that I am still being audited? I am now confused as the letter stated the completion on the 3rd and my latest ITSA does not indicate that I have been selected for audit. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

We have followed up several cases like this with SARS and it is due to a systems error. Unfortunately now this may take quite awhile, you need to be patient, but your refund will be paid to you.

Hi Tim, if it's a systems error, then surely someone needs to be notified? How else will they pick it up?

SARS knows about it, they admit to it and are trying to resolve it as quickly as possible.

Thank you for the feedback. I do appreciate it.

Only a pleasure, let us know if you have not received a refund within 30 days of the last submission.
