Paul says: 14 July 2015 at 9:16 Hi I am using my private vehicles for business travel, part of my job is to do site visits, client meeting ect. I did not receive a travel allowance from my company. Please explain how I can claim this back as I do have log sheets for the travel. I am busy having my package restructured to include a car allowance. Part 2: can I claim depreciation for one vehicle and also claim travel back or is it not allowed? |

Paul says: 16 July 2015 at 5:33 Hi I did 24152 km for this tax period. |
TaxTim says: 16 July 2015 at 11:46 You would only be able to make use of the wear and tear allowance/depreciation given that you do not receive a travel allowance. So you would take the value of your car - the cost and divide by 5 and then apportion this amount for the business mileage over the total mileage and include that in your tax return. SARS will request proof of all this and a letter from your employer stating that you use your own vehicle for business use. |
