Can't locate my IRP5 form for 2007, SARS holding back my current refund

Hi Tim,

I submitted my tax return on the 1st of July and immediately got my IR34 form and thought everything was in order. When calling the call centre yesterday they told me my refund will be held back because I didn't submit my return for 2007??

I went onto my efiling and then opened the 2007 form which I submitted blank and then got a letter stating they want documents. I then asked my employer to locate my IRP5 form for 2007 and they came back to me today saying they only hold all docs for the last 5 years, but they gave me a letter stating that. Can I just have that letter loaded on efiling?? Will that be sufficient?

You can submit this. SARS may require more, but submit that and see what reply SARS give. Else you will have to get bank statements somehow and perhaps your employment contract too, showing the difference between what you received in your account and the amount as per your contract.
