Tommy says: 16 July 2020 at 12:48 I received an auto-assessment from SARS and I am not certain how to work around it. What I do know is that I would prefer to complete a tax return as normal, like I usually did in the past years. Would this be possible? If I reject it, what will happen? |
TaxTim says: 16 July 2020 at 12:50 Yes, you certainly can! When you reject the auto-assessment, you will be able to complete and submit a tax return on 1 September as soon as SARS opens for the 2020 tax season. Please do remember that things have changed this year due to the Corona virus pandemic, hence the change of tax season. Completing a tax return will ensure you are given the chance to claim all possible deductions so as to pay less tax and maximise your chance of a refund. Please do read our blog for further information on the auto-assessment process which SARS has rolled out here for more details on auto-assessments. |
