Can I claim expenses for a child I am in the process of adopting?

My daughter is a single mother of one biological son who is 4. Does not receive maintenance from the father. She is also in the process of adopting an abandoned baby that she got in July 13. She has a court document in the meantime that she is a "safe house" for the baby and could not get a grant because it was not a fostered baby. She is covering all the expenses herself. Can she claim for any of the expenses for the baby until adoption takes place and where would it be recorded on the tax return? ie nappies, formula, clothes, child minder, clinic costs etc

Unfortunately not, there are no tax deductions for situations like these, despite the wonderful thing your daughter is doing.
