Are local dividends included in local interest?

Do I include my local dividends earned, as listed on my IT3b, to my total local interest earned?

No, dividends are disclosed separately from interest on the Tax Return as the tax treatment is different between the two. Dividends are tax exempt while interest is included in your taxable income (although there is an annual interest exemption).

In the opening questions to the Tax Return, you need to answer "yes" to the question:

"Did you receive exempt local and/or foreign dividend income?"

Then scroll down in your Tax Return to "Amounts considered non-taxable" and enter the dividend amount in the block for "Exempt local and foreign dividends"
