Nicki says: 22 June 2015 at 15:32 I was previously running a business as a sole prop and therefore was registered as a provisional taxpayer. I have now registered a business and pay myself a salary from this. Am I still a provisional taxpayer or can I go back to doing one return per year as before? And if so, is there anything I need to do, or just simply no longer submit IRP6's? |
TaxTim says: 22 June 2015 at 22:33 Check out our decision questions on whether or oot you are a Provisional taxpayer? to see of you can de-register or not. |
Nicki says: 23 June 2015 at 8:16 Thank you very much for your response. It seems I am no longer a provisional taxpayer - if I was previously a provisional taxpayer, is there anything I need to do to "deregister" from provisional tax? Or do I just simply no longer submit IRP6's for the 2016 tax year? |
TaxTim says: 23 June 2015 at 11:24 You would go to USER on your eFiling profile and remove the tick under Organisation TaxTypes for IRP6. |
Nicki says: 23 June 2015 at 15:45 Ok great, thank you so much! On that note, is it perfectly fine to be a provisional tax payer one year, then not the next year, and then possibly be a provisional tax payer again the following year? |
TaxTim says: 23 June 2015 at 16:12 It is, but if when you submit your return SARS picks up that you should be a provisional taxpayer then you will be penalized. It may be better to file the IRP6 even if it is a zero amount. |
