Agent fees and tax declaration

If you receive income via an agent which has not been taxed, what is the income declared? Eg: I get paid R10 000 for a job. The agent takes R2000. Do I declare R10 000 or R8000 as income earned?
Also, what proof do I have to show this if audited?

You would declare your net income i.e income less expenses. This would therefore be R8,000.
If you invoice the agent, this could be provided as proof of earnings. Alternatively, you could provide your bank statement or any documentation the agent may provide you.
