TaxTim says: 17 August 2015 at 12:25 In order to claim a tax refund, you need to be registered as a Tax Payer with SARS, have filed a Tax Return and have overpaid SARS tax for the year. If you are earning above the tax threshold of R73,650 for the year, you should be registered with SARS and paying tax. Further clarification is at the link below. Returns, Rebates and Refunds |
Joe says: 19 August 2015 at 10:02 Hi Tim Thank you for the response. I am a registered tax payer as I had a full-time job before but now I am a full-time student and paying my own fees. I make about R100K pa and ~60K is for fees. I do also have an investment plan and life cover. I wanted to know if they consider school fees contribution for refunds. Thanks |
TaxTim says: 19 August 2015 at 10:46 It's a pleasure. Your school fees are a personal expense and therefore would not be deductible against your income on your tax return. |
