How do I go about submitting documentation for backdated claims?

Two of my stepchildren have brain irregularities, one Dandy Walker syndrome, the other Landau Kleffner Syndrome. However when the one with DW Syndrome turned 21 I had to go through the motions of proving his dependance to keep him as adult dependant on my MA. Then I was told to indicate on my tax return that I have a disabled dependant. Question is, what is the procedure to claim...

How do the medical aid deductions for 2013 work - become dependent or become principle member?

Hi Tax Tim, thank you for a very informative website, I've learnt a lot!

My question is this: which option is more tax beneficial?

My situation:
My wife and I are both principle members of the same medical aid, with a baby on the way. My understanding of the new tax credit rules for 2013 would imply that it doesn't really matter how we as a family structure our medical aid. Be it as 1 principle member and 2 dependents, or 2 principle members and 1 dependent. Is this correct? The new rules disregard the fact that I am in a higher tax bracket as well...

I am uncertain if I am registered with SARS, on my IRP5 I have a 10 digit income tax ref number. I have been paying tax for the past 5 or 6 years but I have never submitted any thing to SARS. I urgently need a tax certificate. What do I need to do in order to get a tax clearance certificate?

Are there penalties on incorrect information?

Hi, I mistakenly did not pick up my medical payments deducted from my salary as a 'tax perk' which therefore adds to my taxable amount. I now have to pay in more tax after I have already completed both provisional tax forms, only to discover this now when I must submit my ITR12 now in November. Are there penalties and interest involved, since the year end is Feb and it's now Nov already?

When I call up my file on efiling, the prepopulated fields are (3810) and (4005) with a "1" and field (4474) with the full amount of the contributions paid by the company. Is this correct? I do not receive a pension from the company.

selected for audit

I was asked to submit my supporting documentation - which was for medical aid only and was selected for audit. I called SARS to find out what was happening as I had a refund due but all they could say was that the type of Audit I was selected for can take between 3 and 12 months. My tax return is not complicated but I do pay for the family's medical aid.

Thank you
