I did not submit a tax return last year. What can I do? I assumed employers did it for you! Are there fines involved?

normal monthly salary = R5000. employee has worked from 27 May to 31 May ie 5 days. How much pay must be paid? and how much UIF must be deducted?

South African divers working offshore on vessels in international waters for foreign companies (not South African companies), and working more than 183 days offshore with one trip longer than 60 days continuous. Do we have to pay tax now in the near future? I heard they want to change the tax law for all expats working offshore.

Can one get a tax number if not employed or never been employed before? I want to join a modelling agency and they are saying one must have a valid tax number in order to join them.

UIF is levied at 1% of your taxable income, at most R148.72/month".

What do you mean by the above? Does it mean that the maximum UIF deduction is R148.72 per month off any given salary? i.e. R17,978 CTC salary - I must not deduct more than R148.72 for UIF? Thank you.

I am owing SARS an amount of R 1000.00 and there is a refund due to me in an amount of R 8000.00 , I have made arrangements as to how to pay the money owed to SARS. My question is can't SARS actually minus the money I owe them from my refund although an arrangement has been made? I was actually told that I would not receive what is due to me if I don't pay the outstanding money.

Lastly how long does it take for SARS to pay your refund if you have submitted via e filling .

Hi for the first time I am confused, I own my own car and last financial year I did about 18200 business km and 8100 private km my company refunds business travel at 2 rand a km I keep a log book but not receipts for fuel and repairs is there anything I can claim for?

I have just been granted a Life Partnership Visa with Own Business Permit. This will allow me to contract myself out to employers. What tax form do I fill in? What information is needed? How do I pay tax if I invoice a company? And will I be taxed the same as if I was employed by the company?
