Allowable Medical Deductions



My monthly medical aid premium is paid to the scheme through the company (it forms part of my cost to company) but I cover the cost 100%. The total for the year is R31 694 (for me and my son).

I recently underwent a Tax audit last year as I haven't regularly paid taxes for a few years. SARS did the audit and siad they owed me x ammount but I also owed the y ammount. They paid out the x ammount deducting their Y ammount from the balance and all was good. I have submitted my tax return via efiling on the 1st of July and immediately received an email saying I need to submit supporting documents. What is the amount for the 2012/2013 "allowable medical deduction" code 4008?



I would like to find out if the amount (if you are the only dependent) is still R720 p/m for the 2012/2013 tax year? Can this amount be claimed by anyone who pays medical aid?

When I use the SARS tax calculator, it shows at code 4008 an amount of R0,00?

Hi Tim, I submitted my tax return via e-filing and my banking had changed so I punched in the latest details and SARS put on an audit. Do I have to submit income tax forms if I have been retrenched in November 2012?



I have been retrenched in November 2012 and sill have not found a job. All my debit orders until now have been paid with the money I received from my retrenchment package. These include Retirement Annuity Funds. I currently receive UIF payment into my bank account. I have paid tax when I was employed all these years. Do I still have to submit income tax forms and if I should, is the chance there that I will owe money to SARS? I have not received an IRP5 form when I left the company.

Re Medical Scheme Fees Tax Credit Code 4116 on IRP5, ITR12 & ITA34



I noticed my IRP5 had a new Code 4116 Medical Scheme Fees Tax Credit which I did put in my ITR12 amounting to R5520 as we are 2 Members of my medical aid. I then noticed in my ITA34 on the Assessment page under MEDICAL DEDUCTIONS under Code 4020 I am claiming R39597 for Medical Expenses not recovered from Medical BUT then under that in Description it shows;
Medical Tax Credits X4 -R22080.00
Q - My question is why its it showing X4 ?? as that amount would mean R5520 per 2 members per...

I want to get my IRP5 on line?



I wanna know my IRP5 on for 2013 but I can't please help me.

Number of periods worked on the IRP5?



I am a contract worker and on my IRP5 it states that my number of periods worked is 365 ,which is not the case. In April 2012 my contract was finished and I was without work for a month. In May 2012 I was appointed by the same company again. Since then I have been laying off a day here and sometimes a couple of days at a time. I do not get paid for the days I do not work(as per my contract). How does all this affect my number of periods worked and what am I to do?
