Amending the SARS assessment date?
Posted 7 October 2014
Hello Tim,
SARS' records show that my assessment month or fin year end is Feb. My previous accountant used the financial year end date reflected on my CIPRO company registration for compiling my IFS which is Mar. She then submitted records for until 31Mar. I'm now in the process of submitting my returns for this period and would like to align SARS records with my previous accountant's submission; that is change the assessment date from Feb to Mar.
How do I go about this and what are the possible implication? ...

I am a model and I never got a job in the 2013 financial year but only in 2014.
Posted 7 October 2014
I accidentally clicked "request return" for 2013 on the efiling site. I earned no income that year. Will that affectmy refund that is due to me for a return that I filed for 2014? The efiling status is "Assessment received" and the SARS status is "Return-Data submitted to ITS". Do I need to file the (accidentally) requested 2013 return even though I was not working?

Unemployed but paying medical aid contributions. Tax implications?
Posted 1 October 2014
Hi Tim. I worked for 2 months in the 2014 YOA. I then left work upon the birth of my child. I am the principal member of our family's medical aid (myself, husband and child) and the contributions are paid from my bank account. Since I left work, my husband transfers money into my bank account for the payment of the medical aid. Do I claim this on my tax return even though I am not employed? Should my husband claim it even if the policy is not in his name? I did have income this year so if I clai...

2. What if I paid some of the accounts on her behalf - does it matter?
