I am a South African citizen, employed by a South African company, which has subsidiaries across the continent. I am being paid out of South Africa, into a South African bank account. I have been seconded to work in East Africa for a year. On my salary, regular PAYE and UIF are being deducted. I plan to spend a minimum of 183 full days (including 60 consecutive full days) out of the country. What else do I need to qualify for the non-resident tax exemption?

Hi Tim I have a student who is paying me rent in a 2 bedroom semi-detached. He started paying rent in February 2015 when do I have to register as a provisional taxpayer? Is it only once you've earned more than R30 000 for that year? Then I will have to register next year then in Feb 2016?

I have had 3 jobs for this tax year, 2 permanent and 1 temp. I've had tax deducted on all three salaries. Will this affect my submission for this year? And how will it be taxed seeing that my salary increases with every job as well as my deductions.
Out of country work how does taxation work?

I work offshore and get paid into my FNB account. I am away for more than 180 days of the year and one or more of my trips are more than 60 consecutive days out of country so I know I am eligible for seamans tax (or whatever it is called). Can you program take that into account or should I continue to use a taxman?

My wife owned and lived in her flat before our marriage. Since our marriage, my wife moved into my dwelling. We have heard that should she now sell the flat it will be subject to Capital Gains Tax ! We are married out of community of property and excluding the accrual system. My wife current earns R156 000 per annum. Please advise. Best Regards Peter

I freelanced for a while so I paid provisional tax from last year August 14 to Jan 15 and then again Feb 15 to Aug 15 (overpaid a few invoices accidentally). I got a full time permanent job since 13th April. When can I apply to get a refund from the provisional tax and some overpaid invoices please? And how do I go about this? Thanks!!

Im not a credit provider. But what happens if I borrow a friend from my salary a substantial amount of money and he doesn't pay me back. Can I add that as deductible expense?

Am ashamed to say that I have not been submitting my tax returns since 2010. I have just been negligent on my part, what I want to ask is how do I start or go about rectifying this problem? There was also a period of unemployment over maybe a year due to short relocation to Gabon. I have been a regular tax payer since starting my career.

I am 67 years of age and a pensioner. In terms of the 2015 tax year how is the deduction in terms of Medical Aid contributions been calculated. Example:
Annual contributions to my medical aid fund = R24,000
Med expenses (Dr precriptions) paid out of my pocket = R2000

Transfer of benefits from one fund to another

I resigned from my previous employer in 2006 and defer my pension at ABC Pension Fund. I join a new employer and contributed to their pension fund, XYZ Pension Fund. I am now 56 years old and want to resign from my current employer to do voluntary community work. Can the withdrawal benefit from XYZ Pension Fund be transferred to my deferred pension at ABC Pension Fund tax-free, as I don't want to go on retirement before I am 60.
Erroneous Payments and IRP5

I've been overpaid erroneously for a year . My employer wants the monies paid back in full. Roughly a third of the amount was taxed and appears on the IRP5. Must the IRP5 be amended by the employer, while we sort out the pay back arrangements?
