Pieter says: 17 July 2015 at 9:45 Good day, Every year since 2009 I have been doing my SARS eFiling and lucky enough, getting a refund paid to me. Now this year 2015 SARS says I have an outstanding tax return from 2008? Why wasn't it picked up last year when I was Audited? Will I now be penalised for this? Even though I did pay my taxes. I have requested a tax return on SARS Efiling for 2008, just awaiting IRP5 from my company. |
TaxTim says: 17 July 2015 at 13:53 This is something new this year that SARS is implementing and thousands of taxpayers are being caught unaware. You should not be penalised if they have not done so yet, but you should submit as soon as you receive that old IRP5. |
Pieter says: 17 July 2015 at 13:56 Thank you very much I went through all my paperwork and found a copy of my tax return that I manually submitted in 2008 at their offices. Can I do a tax return for 2008 and just attach the old 2008 tax return which was signed on that date? I don't know how they don't have it on their records. |
TaxTim says: 17 July 2015 at 13:59 You can do that yes, or take that old tax return in as proof. |
